What is Cyber security?


Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting devices, networks, and digital data from cyber threats.

Why is cybersecurity important?

As we can see cyber threats are increasing day by day every year. Many people lost their money, reputation and sensitive data because of cyberattacks so by learning cybersecurity you can protect your sensitive data such as personal details, financial details from cybercriminals.

The CIA Triad (Foundation) is one of the fundamental pillars of cyber security.

Confidentiality: To stop illegal access to data.

Integrity: Make sure no data is changed.

Availability: Systems are still reachable when necessary

Each security control corresponds to one or more of these pillars.

 Malware  It is a harmful software that can damage or take full control of your system.

 Ransomware  Hackers locks your files and demand ransom(money) to unlock them.

• Social Engineering  It is an art of convincing people to reveal their confidential information.

• Phishing  Fake emails or messages pretending to be from banks or any legal sites.

• Security Analyst (Blue Team) - An individual who monitors for attacks to a company's systems by using Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools such as Splunk or ELK. This position also allows you to respond to any Cyber Attack that occurs.

 Network Security Engineer - A position which requires an individual with extensive knowledge of networks, routers, firewalls and leading edge technology.

• SOC Analyst - A position located in a Security Operations Center and the first person to respond to a Cyber Attack.
• Malware Analyst (Advanced) - A position that requires advanced programming skills and the ability to understand and follow computer terms. The primary focus of this position is analyzing malware. • Cloud Security Engineer - A position that has a large growth rate in the coming years for Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
