What is malware?

 A malware is created with the intention to damage or take control of any device or steal information from it.

Types of malware

1.  Virus :- These are like biological virus than can spread and replicate by human actions. They often spread by sharing files or software.

symptoms of virus :-Frequent pop ups crashes, slow computer performance, unusual activities, creating shortcut and multiple copies etc.

2. Worms :-It is a self replicating program which enters an OS with the intention of spreading malicious. It harms the computer by deleting files or sending documents through email. It doesn’t need to attach itself to a software program in order to cause damage.

3. Trojan Horse :- It is a destruction program that looks safe to run but it has a harmful working in the background. Malicious users can remotely access computer system using a trojan. It can steal important data, inject more malware, monitor user activities or even modify files.

4. Ransomware :- It is a malware that prevents users from accessing their computer system. It encrypt all the files on the system and demand ransom(money) to decrypt them. It may be downloaded by users from malicious websites or email attachment. Example: Crowting, WannaCry etc.

5. Rootkit :- It is a malicious software design to remotely access or control a computer without alerting the users or security programs. It can modify settings, access files or steal information. It’s prevention, detection and removal is difficult but you can protect your devices by updating software regularly, avoid suspicious downloads and carrying out scans.

6. Spyware :- Its purpose to monitor user activity and steal private information from a computer system.

 Symptoms of Malware infection:- 

1. Slow system performance.

2. Pop ups.

3. Creating multiple copies of files and folders.

4. Suspicious hard drive activities.

5. Unexpected system crashed.

6. Antivirus disabled.
